General Maintenance Technician
NASA Ames Research Center, CA
Job Description:
  • Basic understanding in the areas of electrical, plumbing, roofing, drywall repair and paint, masonry, flooring, door hardware, and other trades.
  • Ability to understand and apply codes, blueprints, diagrams, and engineering drawings.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and practices, and ability to safely use hand and power tools.
  • Ability to operate forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts and other heavy equipment.
  • Self-motivated and results oriented, with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure with tight deadlines and ability to effectively prioritize work and manage time.
Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for completing repairs and preventative maintenance on several buildings and assets. Specific roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Building and paved surface assessments and repairs
  • Roof and gutter maintenance and repairs, and roof leak containments and clean-ups
  • Annual storm drain clean-outs
  • Drywall, plaster, and paint repairs
  • Flooring repairs and replacement, including tile, VCT, vinyl, laminate, and carpet
  • Window repairs and replacements
  • Testing of life safety systems, including exit signs and lights
  • Man door, roll door, and hardware preventative maintenance and repairs
  • Providing support to other crafts, such as electrical, plumbing, alarms, HVAC, and HAZMAT
Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Qualifications:
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Must be able to obtain a NASA badge and maintain access to the workplace facility.
  • A minimum of 4-years of journeyman level work experience in a skilled trade, or related experience.

HV Electrician I
NASA Ames Research Center, CA
Job Description:
  • Cutting, bending, and treading of metallic conduit
  • Running, termination of, connection of less than 600VAC circuits to circuit breakers
  • Maintenance, repair, bulb and ballast replacement of florescent light fixtures
  • Test and test-documentation of Emergency Exit lights
  • Energy control and Lock-out/Tag-out procedures and operations
  • General Electrical Safety training documentation
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Performs a variety of electrical trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy
  • Installing repairing any of a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment
  • Working from blueprints, drawings layouts, or other specifications
  • locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment

HV Electrician II
NASA Ames Research Center, CA

Job Description: Must demonstrate knowledge of HVAC, electrical and PDM theory and practices sufficient to plan work independently on related distribution equipment. Understanding of, and willingness to comply with, electrical and work safety procedures including National Electrical Code & CAL-OSHA Standards. Ability to handle tools of the trade (multi-meters, ultrasonic probes, vibration screeners, infrared cameras, laser alignment tools, electrical tester), to work in awkward positions of crouching or bending etc. for a period of time, and to perform lifting up to 40 lbs. Must be able to read metering schematic, wiring, installation diagrams, etc. Ability to diagnose electrical and mechanical troubles and then make repairs on equipment. Ability to perform new installations of PDM technologies, if permitted. Must possess a valid California driver's license, a good driving record and the ability to operate automatic transmission vehicles and may operate a high lift truck. Must have and maintain certification in CPR, First Aid training, & Confined Space. Must be available to work overtime and available for callbacks.

Education: High School diploma. Two years journey-level Electrician, including analysis of High Voltage controls circuits for power generating and distribution systems up to 115 kV.

Qualifications: Skilled in the use of hand and power tools common to the trade. Ability to troubleshoot down to the component level. Ability to understand and apply codes, blueprints, diagrams, and engineering drawings.

HVAC Mechanic
NASA Ames Research Center, CA
Job Description: Perform routine maintenance, replace parts, repair machinery, and support the HVAC Technicians as needed. Should have a strong working knowledge of HVAC systems as well as the tools related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of these systems. Should be physically fit, good with your hands, and able to effectively follow instructions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Knowledge of accepted practices, processes, and materials of the maintenance trades.
  • Familiarity with all tools and equipment necessary for HVAC installation and maintenance.
  • Installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC units including air handlers, chillers, cooling towers and associated equipment.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Operating a variety of hand and power tools needed for HVAC installation.
  • Cleaning and replacing air filters and duct systems.
  • Following instructions for picking up and delivering parts, tools, materials, and supplies to and from the job site.
  • Ensuring all tools, materials, and equipment are in good working order.
  • Coordinating with team members to provide excellent customer service.
  • Ensuring all HVAC systems remain compliant with industry standards and regulations.

HVAC Tech
NASA Ames Research Center, CA
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Installation, maintenance, operation and repair of the air handlings units, chillers, boilers, VAV’s, VRV’s, fume hoods, pumps, and motors under general supervision.
  • Assignments can be received in the form of work orders, blueprints, sketches, verbal instructions, and employees may be expected to schedule their own work and determine work priorities.
  • At this level, employees are expected to diagnose problems independently and determine the appropriate method and procedure needed to complete the work.
  • Work with the Lead and co-workers.
  • Installs, services, repairs, inspects, and performs PMs on HVAC and other mechanical equipment per documented procedures and manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Refrigerant Recovery, System M&R
  • Maintenance of Air Handlers with pneumatic and digital controls including secondary pumps, damper motors, blower motors and belt replacement
  • Reheat coils and preheat
  • Ability to work independently troubleshooting and responding to service work orders.


Education:High school diploma or equivalent, and 4 yrs. journeymen or 2-year technical experience. Knowledge of accepted practices, processes, materials, and tools of the maintenance trades

Qualifications:
  • HVAC Apprenticeship
  • 40 CFR 82.158 Certified, 40 CFR 82.161 Certified Technician
  • Pass a physical examination administered by a medical service
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Skilled in the use of hand and power tools common to the trade
  • Ability to interpret and apply codes, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings
  • Knowledge of operation and installation of a variety of complete HVAC systems/equipment. Strong HVAC diagnostic and troubleshooting
  • Must be able to obtain a NASA badge and maintain access to the workplace facility
