Operations & Maintenance - Kennedy Space Center

Kennedy Space Center, Fl
Qualifications: Minimum of five years of related experience in the carpentry field. Must be able to possess and maintain a driver's license and all operational and medical certifications such as high crew, respirator, scaffolding, fall protection, lockout/tagout, forklift, aerial lift, confmed space, and annual physicals required for performance of assigned tasks. Must have a high school diploma or GED.

Duties & Responsibilities: Primary duties include: Performing installation, maintenance, construction, fabrication, modification, assembly, repair, removal, sanding, finishing, and/or glazing for facilities, cabinets, furniture, displays, stairs, doors, roofs, partitions, walls, ceilings, stages, truck beds, magnetic boards, floor tiles, and concrete forms. Using precision instruments and tools. Setting up, adjusting, and using woodworking machines such as planers, shapers, sanders, and saws.

Associated duties include: Working from written, electronic, and verbal information to read blueprints, sketches, specifications, and applicable codes and standards. Utilize a computer, tablet, PDA, or other electronic equipment to receive and close out work assignments. Maintain logs and records. Perform any work assigned in this classification. Perform work in other classifications when incidental but necessary to accomplish work assignments. Perform all duties in compliance with Federal, State, local, and NASA laws and regulations in accordance with KSC energy management conservation regulations, collective bargaining agreements, security, safety, hurricane, and other specialized program requirements relating to the business of the organization.

    Heavy Equipment Operator
    Kennedy Space Center, FL
    Job Description: Independently operate motorized power construction equipment such as bulldozers, front-end loaders, forklifts, graders, gradalls, backhoes, excavators, etc. and other equipment associated with roads maintenance. Perform any work assigned to the employees in the classification. Perform work in other lower classifications when incidental but necessary to accomplish work assignments. Position may require travel.

    Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Two plus years of experience operating heavy equipment working in a construction or road maintenance capacity. Must possess a valid Florida Class B CDL License. Must be able to acquire and maintain OSHA physical requirements and pass performance skills tests.

    Perform all work tasks in compliance with Federal, State, local, NASA and Air Force, laws and regulations. Operate equipment within normal safety limits. Work within energy management and environmental regulations, collective bargaining agreements, security, and standard safety regulations. Support efforts in hurricane preparations and other special program events required per Contract. Perform all work within established OSHA safety regulations, Kennedy Space Center policies, and contract work procedures.

    Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Maintain training, certifications, licenses, permits, etc. required for performance of assigned tasks.
    • Provide efficient and safe operation of various road maintenance and construction equipment in the accomplishment of assigned work tasks. This occasionally includes determining work scope by reviewing work plans, supporting customer requirements, and from site drawings.
    • Perform required daily and pre-use equipment maintenance. Record findings on associated forms. Report anomalies or discrepancies through proper channels to schedule maintenance or repair.
    • Perform routine equipment inspections to ensure operability.
    • Load and unload trucks and other vehicles used to transport road and construction materials.
    • Install and maintain traffic and crowd control devices such as temporary signs, barricades, ropes, cones, flag traffic, etc.
    • Install and maintain traffic control signs and devices. This includes use of hand tools to install traffic control signs and posts.
    • Remove and install fencing and associated hardware and wire.
    • Provide guidance and direction to lower classification employees to ensure safe and efficient completion of work tasks.
    • Maintain logs and records. Utilize PDA’s or tablets to obtain work tasking assignments and to record work completion.
    • Maintain area permit(s), licenses, certifications, etc. required for performance of assigned tasks.
    • Perform other related duties as required.
    • Attend scheduled training and safety classes required for certifications and area access.
